WAROONA GOLF CLUB [INC]
LOCAL RULES
[To be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf]
1. Out of Bounds [Rule 27-1] Note: This overrides Out of Bounds ruling on the scorecard.

Beyond the fence bounding the golf course on Holes 1 and 12.

Beyond the posts with white tops on Holes 3, 4 and 13.

The car park on the western side of the clubhouse.

The inner edge of the roadway on Hole 2 and the inner edge of the footpath on Holes 10 and 11.
2. Ground Under Repair [Rule 25]

Those areas marked with white stakes and/or white lines or designated with appropriate GUR signs are to be treated as ground under repair and relief may be taken in accordance.

The area enclosed by a white line behind the 9th and 18th greens is Ground Under Repair from which play is prohibited. Relief must be taken by dropping a ball in the Dropping Zone closest to where the ball lies, even though the Dropping Zone may be nearer to the hole. If a ball is dropped in a Dropping Zone, the ball must not be re-dropped if it comes to rest within two club lengths of the spot where it first struck a part of the course even though it may come to rest nearer the hole of outside the boundaries of the Dropping Zone.

The furrows defining any fairway [apart from the one being played] are classified as Ground Under Repair and relief may be taken.
3. Staked Trees or Shrubs
If a staked tree, staked shrub interferes with a player's stance or area of his/her intended swing, the ball must be lifted without penalty and dropped within two club lengths. The ball may be cleaned when so lifted.
Note: The stakes are Immovable Obstructions.
4. Water Hazards [Rule 26]

Water hazards are defined by yellow stakes and / or lines [Rule 26-1a,b]

Lateral water hazards are defined by red stakes and / or lines [Rule 26-1a,b,c]
Note: The stakes are Immovable Obstructions.
5. Preferred Lies
All fairways are defined by furrows / poison marks. A ball lying on the furrow / poison mark is deemed to be on the fairway.
A ball lying on the fairway being played may, without penalty, be moved or may be lifted, cleaned and placed within one club length of where it originally lay but not nearer the hole and not in a hazard or on a putting green. A player may move or place his /her ball once and after the ball has been so moved or placed, it is in play.
6. Embedded Ball
Through the green a ball which is embedded in its own pitch mark in the ground, other than sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must strike a part of the course through the green.
7. Roads and Tracks
A ball lying on a track may be lifted and dropped or placed according to the rules.
8. Wire Screen [9th Tee]
If relief is required for a ball coming to rest in the area enclosed by the Blue Stakes and the Wire Screen next to the 9th Tee the ball must be dropped on the side of the Wire Screen nearest to where the ball lies and within one club length of the enclosed area.
9. Temporary Immovable Obstructions - Marquees
If a ball comes to rest in a marquee or a marquee interferes with the player's stance or area of intended swing or a marquee interferes with the line of play to the hole, the player may take relief, without penalty, by dropping a ball in the Dropping Zone nearest to where the original ball lay.
10. Uniform Sand Green Regulations

The Uniform Sand Green Regulations apply, except:
a] In order to promote fair and pleasant play a player may take no more than two scrapes in preparing the putting surface. A player may be entitled to a scrape when within one club length of the green. [Players are requested to make the final scrape towards the hole on all occasions]
b] If a player's ball comes to rest on the green against the lip, that player may deem the ball to be off the green, but only if the lip of the green interferes with the putting stroke. The player may take relief of up to one club length
2. Scrapers
The only scrapers that may be used are those provided by the club.
11. Kangaroo Paws
A drop must be taken without penalty to the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole. Buggies must not be taken through Kangaroo Paws.
The PINE POSTS on the edge of the fairways indicate that the distance from a point opposite that in the middle of the fairway to the CENTRE of the green are 150 metres and 100 metres.
